  1. This clip explanes a lot about the movie. It seems like the world of matrix is a big bubble of dreams. It seems very confusing, but at the same time it makes sense because its like this dream world runs on crazy ideas the people live off of.

  2. The video "The Matrix and the Cave" tells us a brief description of The Matrix, and what the point of the movie really is. Peter Chung, the director, states that it is not "a story of man versus technology" and that it is about "rigid thinking", and "institutionalized to control." What this clip tells me is that the people in this movie are prisoners, that are "batteries" while they are sleeping, that power the city along with everyone else. Everybody else does not realize what is going on, but Neo and the other members started questioning reality. As mentioned in the video, "The Allegory of the Cave" is the same concept as "The Matrix" in which both are dealing with people that are born into a slave society and don't even know it. "The only thing we know for certain, is that nothing is certain." That quote is from Iakovos Vasiliou, in which he is saying that nobody can be certain about everything, and there will always be doubts and people will begin to "think outside the box" and question their reality.

  3. This video clip is a clip that is explaining "The Matrix" and also the book "the Cave" and how we have changed and how we just don’t really see some things as well now. Also that people change and our world is becoming more dependent on electronics. When we really look at things it will make us see it for what it really is and this might even scare us. So to get out of this we hide and don’t truly see anything beautiful or ugly. People are trying to live and not be interrupted and they are losing what is really beautiful and important in life. This really made me think about how I look at things and I want to see more than I do now. Also this is saying how we just want to act like robots but this brought it to a more direct level. This is a good thing to think about and how you are going about your life as of right now.

  4. This clip was confusing to me. What I got out of the Matrix clip is that the humans are like batteries, and they power these robots (that are part of the movie). When the humans are asleep, this is when the batteries turn on and start the charging process. When they say "..a prison, for your mind", it was interesting to me because it gets me thinking back to the articles we read in class and the whole truth, lies and deception thing. This is also relating to the quote "The only thing we know for certain, is that nothing is certain." when they were talking about Socrates. It was interesting to see this clip, and to have read the three handouts given in class, and see how they all relate to each other.

  5. I find it quite interesting that the whole concept of being held "prisoner" by limited thoughts and emotions has been discussed by some of the greatest minds in history. I think Socrates point of view of is an interesting take on the topic. A quote that I found from the clip that helped describe this was "these prisoners don't know they're prisoners, don't think they're prisoners" The quote goes along with the article "the willingness to be disturbed" because it defines that idea that these people are prisoners of their own minds and they cannot "escape" until they broaden their views, or in other words, are willing to be disturbed.

  6. Great thoughts here, folks. I like where this is going.

Can anyone make connections between this film clip and the articles we have been reading in class? Are there any intersections between the BIG IDEAS of this clip and the BIG IDEAS in the articles?

  7. I've never seen the Matrix, but from what I saw in the clip, the humans in the movie are all prisoners, being used as batteries when they are sleeping, that power the city. It's an interesting concept and can make people question their own reality, because nobody knows what's really going on until then they begin to question it. It reminds me of the "Willingness to be Disturbed" article because you have to be willing to be disturbed in order to find out the truth.. you have to keep an open mind and not be a prisoner of your own mind.

  8. Like maggie said I didnt really understand the concept of this clip. What I understood about it was that it was based on the movie the matrix and also a book called the cave. This clip was basically saying that humans rely on technology more and more as the years go on. This video reminded me of the articles we've been reading in class because they're about changing the way we think and the way we perceive things and the types of messanhers we are and the person in this beginning of this video was saying that the movie the matrix is about changing the way humans think.

  9. The movie looked interesting. It reminded me of all the papers we have read because they all had to do with the concept of "what is real?" "What is truth?" The people in the trailer seemed like they were blinded by what they have been taught to see, but didn't know what was really out there, or what was "reality" That related to "Willingness to be disturbed" because we are usually comfortable with our already programmed in surroundings and aren't usually willing to see whats out there. It also would get you thinking about "is life a dream? are we even here?" and questions like that.

  10. The clip basically shows the plot of the movie that everyone is controlled sub-consciously. I feel that this is a metaphor for our modern society. While we may see that we are free on the surface in actuality we are not at all. Everything you learn or are taught is controlled either by your parents, your school, the media, or, which almost all these realte to, the government. Pretty much everything that has an effect on you is controlled by the government. So really they hold all your freedom, and can control our society to do or be who or what they want.
